Mersham Manor Antiques has dated this Carved Mahogany Centre Table to the Victorian era.
An exceptional and very impressive 19th century mahogany centre table, of outstanding quality.
c1870.
The very curvaceous serpentine shaped top with moulded edge has the most beautifully intricately carved heads to four of the corners, depicting medieval bearded and crowned Kings, which are partially gilded.
Also partially gilded, and having abundant profusely pierced carved scrolls and acanthus leaves to the side supports. Joined by an equally intricately pierced carved centre stretcher, with matching carved scrolled quadriform feet.

The mahogany top shows wonderful figuring and graining to the timbers, and is off good even colour and warm patina.
A completely "Grand Entrance" centre-piece table.
Provenance-
Originally a private commission in the second half of the 19th century by a German financier living in Kent.

With possibly what is the makers mark beneath, which is an ornately painted gilt letter C.
In excellent antique condition. Solid, heavy, sturdy and strong.
