''Piping Shepherd Boy'' after the original work by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-92). Oil on canvas. Circa. early 19th century.
The work has been naively but charmingly depicted with atmospheric skies, a wooded path fading into the distance and the shepherd glancing out of the canvas with his dog behind him, entranced by the sounds of the pipe.
The work is of small proportions and unframed. The canvas is a little slack with evidence of multiple repairs verso.
A very decorative work.
