Traditional Heriz carpets are hand-knotted with a hand-spun wool pile woven onto a strong cotton warp and weft foundation, coloured with natural plant and mineral dyes.

Authentic pieces feature distinct geometric floral motifs, asymmetrical hand-knotted weaves visible on the reverse side, and natural colour variations known as abrash.
