Description

A rare, refined and beautifully made table with detachable leaf for ease of transport.

A useful size too: 73cm high x 145cm x 144cm

The near circular top is supported on a laminated frame. The leaf is held in place with extended hinges that can be bolted from the underside. My friend @jamesrhardie, has seen similar hinges on a massive table probably made by William Trotter, (Young, Trotter & Hamilton).

The leaf can be easily removed and assembled and the top sections fit together perfectly.

A George III hunt table, also known as a wake or horseshoe table, was originally designed in the late 18th century for serving drinks and refreshments after fox hunting or social gatherings.
