Antique Gallet & Co Pocket Watch For Thomas Eaton

Sold by: The Vintage Wrist Watch Company

Antique Gallet & Co pocket watch for Thomas Eaton.

The T Eaton Company Limited, commonly known as Eaton''s, was a Canadian department store chain that was once Canada''s largest. It was founded in 1869 in Toronto by Timothy Eaton, an immigrant from what is now Northern Ireland.

The watch has a good quality 17-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. Patterned plates, screw set jewels and the Gallet disc regulator.

The watch measures 54mm diameter so slightly larger than a standard 50mm diameter watch, it is also quite a chunky piece. The case is gold filled and is the Fortune model from the Canadian manufacturer, the American Watch Case Company. The case is in lovely condition, just the odd minor mark, nothing serious at all.

The acrylic lens has light surface markings.

The double sunk dial is signed with the Eaton logo. Elongated Roman numerals with an outer minute track and red numerals to the perimeter. If viewed closely, the hands are a little out of shape towards the centre of the dial. A few hairline cracks to the outer chapter ring between 10 and 12, although faint.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
