The 8" dial with painted centre plus strike, complementing brass hands and gilded spandrels to the corners. The double fusee movement with anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour, plus a silent dial set on a brass backplate. Bears the makers name for London clock maker John Starey, recorded as making clocks in Royal Exchange from 1770 until his death in 1880 - he became a Freeman of the clock makers company in 1785. The superb example in excellent original condition, fully serviced and working.
