Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III bureau bookcase is a piece of case furniture produced in Britain during the reign of King George III (17601820). It combines an upper cabinet or bookcase with a lower slant-front writing desk and storage drawers.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, featuring pine or oak drawer linings and hand-cast brass hardware such as swan-neck handles and escutcheons.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods inside drawers, hand-planed back panels, and natural shrinkage marks in the timber alongside period-correct brass fittings.

A bureau bookcase functions well in a home office, hallway, or living room, providing vertical storage and a functional writing surface while serving as a focal point against neutral or dark heritage wall colours.

The timber should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading, and maintained by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cotton cloth.
