A salt glazed dish forming the base, resembling a wicker basket, with embossed makers mark for Crown, Dorset; sized to hold one egg. The silver top with clear hallmarks, registered number and makers name for Piccadilly, London for retailers Barret & Sons. A most unusual item, probably for serving a single egg at the table, presented in immaculate condition, the pottery base in perfect unrestored condition.
