Regency Double Fusee Bracket Clock

19th century
Description

A fine quality Regency period figured mahogany cased double fusee bracket clock with striking and repeating movement, fully restored and working c.1825. The fine quality figured mahogany case with stepped and chamfered top and a pineapple shaped finial. Canted corners inlaid with brass and matching brass mounts to the quarter panels sat around the dial. Fish scale design brass sound frets to the sides with moulded trim, sat above a plinth base with adjustable brass bun feet below. Convex painted dial with Roman numerals and the makers name with original hand cut blued steel hands; a cast brass bezel forming the door with matching convex glass. The double fusee movement with wire drive lines and original anchor escapement, which strikes on a bell to the hour with a repeating mechanism. Thomas Farr was one of three in his family recorded as making clocks in Bristol between 1790 and 1830.
