Medici Society Print After Michael Jansz Van Mierevelt (1567-1641)

1900 - 1920
Description

A good Medici print of a painting by Jansz Van Mierevelt who was a Dutch artist born in Utrecht in 1567. It portrays a little girl dressed in a very elaborate costume of the time which demonstrates her aristocratic or perhaps royal birth. She holds a tropical cockatiel/ parrot which perhaps relates to her family's ties with the Dutch East Africa Trading Company. It is a good textured print framed in the original oak frame. .

We found the picture enchanting with so much detail and a story to tell.

Circa 1900
