Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An eight-day drop-dial wall clock is a mechanical timepiece featuring a circular upper dial and a lower wooden extension, known as a trunk, which houses the swinging pendulum. Originating in Great Britain during the nineteenth century, these clocks utilised a mechanical movement requiring winding once every eight days.

The outer casings were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods and veneers such as mahogany or oak. Internal mechanical movements comprised brass plates, steel arbors, and iron weights, accompanied by painted iron dials set within brass bezels.

Authentic examples feature hand-assembled brass movements, natural wear on the dial, hand-carved wood mouldings, and historical winding arbor marks. The pendulum and key often show signs of age, and the mahogany casing displays natural grain variation rather than synthetic finishes.

Mount the clock against a neutral or dark painted wall in an entryway, dining room, or home office to create a focal point. Combining dark mahogany woodwork with contemporary minimalist decor allows the classical silhouette and warm wood tones to stand out.

Position the clock level on a solid wall away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Wind the movement regularly using the correct size key, and have the internal mechanism serviced and oiled by a professional horologist every three to five years.
