Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency sofa table is a narrow table designed in early 19th-century Britain, featuring drop-leaf ends, frieze drawers, and twin end-supports joined by a stretcher. Originally crafted to sit alongside or behind a sofa, these tables provided a practical surface for reading, writing, and serving tea.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era primarily utilized dense mahogany, rosewood, and zebrawood, frequently accentuating surfaces with satinwood or rosewood crossbanding. Metalwork typically featured solid brass fittings, including lion paw castors, caps, and drawer pulls.

Authentic Regency sofa tables feature hand-cut dovetail joints inside frieze drawers, original brass castors secured to splayed legs, and hand-veneered crossbanding. The presence of shrinkage splits, authentic patina on underside timber, and period-appropriate drawer linings further indicate authenticity.

Position the table directly behind a free-standing sofa, in an entry foyer, or along a hall wall. Balance the proportion of the piece by displaying low-profile table lamps, stacked art books, or ceramic vessels across the surface.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying beeswax every six to twelve months. Position the table away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and air conditioning vents to prevent the timber veneer from drying or warping.
