Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in the late 18th century and popularized during the Regency era, sofa tables were designed to sit behind a sofa or along a wall. They served as multifunctional surfaces for writing, reading, and tea service in formal drawing rooms and libraries.

Regency tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany, rosewood, or fine veneers. They often featured hand-carved gadrooned borders, turned twin pedestal supports, and traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic Regency pieces exhibit period-correct construction details such as hand-cut dovetail joints, natural wood oxidisation inside drawers, hand-carved decorative mouldings, and balanced classical proportions typical of the early 19th century.

A Regency sofa table can be placed directly behind a sofa, positioned in an entryway as a console table, or utilized as a compact writing desk in a home office or library setting.

Preserve the finish by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the wood away from direct sunlight, radiators, and sudden changes in humidity to prevent warping or cracking.
