Description

A charming signed watercolour by Harriet M Bennett who was an English water colourist of the 19th Century and worked in Forest Hill, London. Her subjects were children of the 18th and 19th century and many were used for book illustrations. Little is known about her life but she did exhibit at the National Gallery between 1877-1892.

Much of her work can be found in print form and this rare original watercolour demonstrates her enormous skill. The gold mount around the picture is original and the outer frame is a replacement.

The actual painting measures 32cm X 18cm.
