Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Gothic Revival fusee skeleton clock is a nineteenth-century timepiece designed with openwork brass frames that display the internal mechanical movement, often styled after Gothic architectural structures such as cathedrals and monuments.

Victorian skeleton clocks were primarily constructed using hand-cut sheet brass for the architectural frame and gearing, steel for the arbours and pinions, silvered brass for the chapter ring, and a turned marble or slate base for stability.

Authentic nineteenth-century English skeleton clocks feature hand-finished brass plates, a fusee mechanism driven by a gut string or fine chain, hand-engraved silvered dials, and original marble or timber bases with mounting points suited for protective glass domes.

A Victorian skeleton clock serves as a focal architectural piece when placed on a minimalist fireplace mantelpiece, a dark wood sideboard, or a central console table alongside understated contemporary accessories.

To preserve a brass skeleton clock, keep it enclosed under a glass dome to prevent dust accumulation, clean the brass frame gently with a soft microfibre cloth without abrasive polishes, and ensure the movement is serviced by a professional horologist every three to five years.
