Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A draw leaf table is an extending table design featuring two self-storing leaves housed beneath the main tabletop. Pulling the lower leaves outward allows the central top to drop flush with them, expanding the surface area without requiring separate extension leaves.

Traditional oak draw leaf tables were constructed using mortise and tenon joinery, often secured with wooden pegs. The extending mechanism uses angled wooden runners fixed beneath the main top to support the additional leaves.

Jacobean Revival pieces typically feature heavily turned bulbous legs, often decorated with cup-and-cover carving, carved aprons or friezes, and low H-stretchers or perimeter stretchers connecting the legs.

A carved oak table can be paired with modern upholstered chairs or minimal metal seating to create visual contrast. Keeping decorative tableware minimal highlights the natural wood grain and carved architectural details.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain. Prevent water rings and heat damage by using coasters and placemats, and keep the timber away from direct heat sources.
