Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jacobean style furniture originated in early seventeenth-century England and experienced revivals in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It is characterised by solid oak construction, rigid rectangular forms, carved geometric patterns, heavy turned baluster legs, and sturdy floor-level stretchers.

A draw-leaf table features self-storing extension leaves housed beneath the main tabletop. Pulling a leaf outward allows the central panel to drop down into alignment, creating a seamless, expanded dining surface without requiring separate storage for extra leaves.

Jacobean Revival pieces typically display dark-stained or naturally aged oak with visible wood grain, hand-carved frieze detailing along the apron, bulbous or turned legs, and pegged joinery techniques designed to emulate seventeenth-century craftsmanship.

To integrate a heavy oak dining table into a contemporary setting, pair it with modern upholstered dining chairs or mid-century seating to create visual contrast. Neutral wall palettes, minimalist lighting, and soft linen textiles help balance the visual weight of dark timber.

Maintain solid oak tables by applying a quality bees-wax polish several times a year to preserve the moisture content and surface sheen. Wipe up liquid spills immediately with a dry cloth, use heat coasters under hot dishes, and place the table away from direct radiators or heat sources to prevent wood movement.
