Antique Edwardian Emerald Diamond Cluster Ring 0.60ct Emerald

1900 - 1920
For Sale by Laurelle Ltd
Description

A magnificent antique Edwardian cluster ring adorned with a natural step cut emerald bezel set in the centre, weighing approx. 0.60ct. It has a vivid green hue and is complemented by a frame of eight old and brilliant cut diamonds with superb SI1 clarity – H colour. They’re extremely bright and graduate in size from 0.10 to 0.50ct with a total of approx. 1.8ct across the gallery.

Emerald is the birthstone of May. The Romans considered it to be the sacred stone of the goddess Venus and was said to preserve love and provide hope. Its natural green colouring also makes it a stone of springtime and is associated with eternal love and faithfulness.

The piece is a union of platinum and 18ct white gold and has remained in excellent condition. It’s a striking statement ring, dating to the early 1900s with a dazzling collection of precious gems on top.

We recommend you insure for £5,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian cluster rings typically feature a central precious gemstone surrounded by a border of diamonds, reflecting the refined lightness and symmetry of early 20th-century design.

Jewellers during the Edwardian era frequently used platinum or platinum-faced gold settings to allow delicate claw craftsmanship around diamonds and natural emeralds.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut stones such as old European cut diamonds, fine claw settings, platinum mounts, and hand-worked construction without modern casting lines.

An antique cluster ring acts as a focal statement piece that complements formal evening attire or adds a subtle accent of colour when worn alongside modern unadorned bands.

Clean gently using lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemical solvents due to the natural inclusions inherent in emeralds.
