Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised in the mid-19th century, Rococo Revival furniture draws inspiration from 18th-century French design. It is defined by elaborate carved scrollwork, serpentine outlines, cabriole legs, and naturalistic motifs executed in dense hardwoods such as rosewood and walnut.

Victorian rosewood armchairs were constructed using solid or veneered rosewood over hardwood framing with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Internal seating structure comprised hand-tied coil springs, webbed supports, and horsehair padding set upon brass castors.

Authentic mid-Victorian chairs exhibit hand-carved details, original brass castors, and period-appropriate joinery. Evidence of age includes natural wood oxidisation, slight asymmetry in the hand-carved embellishments, and historical wear patterns on the frame underside.

These sculptural armchairs serve as focal accent seating alongside minimalist contemporary sofas or contrasting modern art. Neutral upholstery allows the dark timber grain and carved silhouettes to remain prominent within modern living spaces.

Keep rosewood furniture away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to avoid wood shrinkage and finish bleaching. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the timber grain and clean fabric using delicate vacuuming attachment tools.
