Imari porcelain refers to hard-paste ceramic wares produced around Arita in the former Hizen Province of Japan, historically exported via the port of Imari. It is characterised by underglaze cobalt blue patterns complemented by overglaze iron-red and gilding in intricate floral or geometric designs.
