Louis XV1 style bureau plat by Edwards & Roberts, London

Burr walnut with kingwood cross-banding Louis XV1 style bureau plat of rectangular serpentine form standing on four ormulu mounted cabriole legs.  The polished top with inset scarlet leather surmounted by an arrangement of drawers all with fine ormolu handles and mounts, as is the frieze and drawer below, which incorporates three Sevres porcelain plaques. This is an English desk in the French style by Edwards & Roberts, Wardour St.  London, and bears their label.
