The trunk of the case with moulded edges and feathered book matched veneers; turned 'onion' cistern cover to the base. The silvered scale with original mercury action thermometer set to the side and vernier marker to the barometer tube. Edward Davis is recorded as making barometers in Shrewsbury between 1825 and 1845. This example presented in superb condition with a rich polish, the movement fully overhauled and working. Measures 38" long x 5" maximum width x 2.5" trunk width x 1.5" maximum depth.
