Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in eighteenth-century Europe during the Neoclassical period, the demi-lune console table was designed with a semi-circular top to sit flush against hallway or reception room walls. Popularised during the Georgian and Regency eras by designers such as Thomas Sheraton and George Hepplewhite, these tables provided surface area while keeping walkways clear.

Tables from this period were predominantly constructed using dense West Indian or South American mahogany, often finished with flame mahogany veneers. Decorative accents utilized fine stringing inlay made from boxwood, ebony, or satinwood, paired with cast brass hardware and castors.

Authentic period furniture displays signs of handcraftsmanship, such as hand-sawn drawer dovetails, irregular hand-cut inlay thickness, and secondary timber linings made of pine or oak. Oxidation on the underside of the timber and natural wear on original brass castors and fittings further indicate age.

Position the table in an entryway or narrow hallway beneath a large architectural mirror or framed artwork. Balance the semi-circular footprint with a contemporary table lamp, structured ceramic vessels, or a low dish to maintain clean visual proportions.

Keep mahogany away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage, veneer lifting, and timber bleaching. Dust regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the wood.
