Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Chinese marble-top urn stand is a small elevated display table crafted from dense Asian hardwood featuring an inset marble surface. Originally designed during the Qing Dynasty and early 20th century, these stands were used in traditional Chinese interiors to elevate valuable porcelain vases, incense burners, and bonsai trees.

These pieces were typically carved from dense tropical hardwoods such as hongmu, zitan, or rosewood. The circular or octagonal tops feature inset variegated marble panels, often chosen for natural cloud-like patterns, secured within tongue-and-groove wooden frames.

Authentic period examples demonstrate traditional joinery techniques, such as mortise and tenon joints, without modern screws or nails. Carvings on the apron and legs are executed by hand, displaying subtle variations, alongside natural wear to the underside of the frame and marble border.

These compact stands function as versatile accent tables in contemporary spaces, suitable for holding potted indoor plants, table lamps, or decorative sculpture. Placing a pair symmetrically on either side of a fireplace or doorway adds architectural balance to modern rooms.

Clean the wooden elements using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish annually to maintain moisture in the timber. The marble insert should be wiped with a damp cloth and mild neutral soap, avoiding acidic chemicals that can etch stone surfaces.
