Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A moon dial longcase clock, commonly referred to as a grandfather clock, features an arched dial displaying the phases of the moon alongside the time. Popularised during the 18th century, these clocks integrated mechanical horology with lunar tracking for navigation, agriculture, and tidal calculations.

Georgian longcase clocks were typically constructed with flame mahogany or oak veneers over solid timber carcasses, featuring hand-painted or brass dials, cast brass finials, and weight-driven eight-day clockworks housed within a swan-neck or flat-top hood.

Authentic 18th-century longcase clocks show evidence of hand-worked movement plates, hand-cut brass gears, painted iron or engraved brass dials with maker signatures, and period-correct timber joinery and wear.

Position the clock as a vertical focal point in an entrance hallway, stair landing, or formal reception room alongside classic architectural elements or contrasting contemporary artwork.

Ensure the clock is situated level on a stable surface away from direct heat sources, arrange professional movement lubrication every five to seven years, and dust the wooden casing with a soft, dry cloth.
