Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, recreating 18th-century designs by Thomas Chippendale. Key characteristics include mahogany construction, intricate fretwork, astragal glazed doors, broken pediments, and classical proportions.

Cabinetmakers during the Edwardian era primarily used dense solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, float glass for door panels, and cast brass for drawer handles and escutcheon hardware. Secondary woods such as oak, pine, or ash were used for drawer linings.

Pieces by Edwards & Roberts, a prominent London cabinetmaking firm active from 1845 to 1899 and early 20th century, often bear a stamped mark or brass plaque on the drawer edge or frame. Authentic items feature precise dovetail joinery, high-grade timbers, and finely executed carved details.

A dark mahogany cabinet creates strong contrast when set against neutral lime-wash walls or light plaster finishes. Displaying modern ceramics, glassware, or minimalist art objects inside balances the traditional architectural lines with contemporary aesthetics.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply beeswax twice yearly along the grain. Glass panels should be cleaned with a dedicated cleaner applied to a cloth rather than sprayed directly on the wood, and the piece must be kept clear of direct sunlight and radiator heat sources.
