Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Designed primarily during the 18th and early 19th centuries, a wine cooler or cellarette was crafted to hold ice and chill wine bottles during formal meals in private dining rooms, serving as both a functional piece and a display of wealth.

These pieces were typically constructed from high-quality solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, fitted with protective brass binding straps, cast brass handles or mounts, and lined internally with lead or zinc to retain ice water.

Authentic Regency examples feature precise hand-cut dovetail or coopering joinery, heavy cast brass mounts such as lion masks or classical ram heads, original metal interior lining showing age-appropriate oxidisation, and square tapered legs or swept sabre legs.

An antique cellarette functions well as a decorative focal point in a dining room, hallway, or drawing room, frequently repurposed as a unique indoor planter for greenery or fitted with a glass top to serve as an accent table.

Apply high-grade beeswax polish to the mahogany surfaces along the wood grain to protect the patina, dust brass fittings with a soft cloth while avoiding harsh chemicals, and ensure the interior liner remains dry to protect the surrounding timber structure.
