Description

A quality satinwood box with three compartments and attractive turned handles to each side.

The David Joel label to the underside.

David Joel was the joint founder of the distinguished Betty Joel firm. When his wife retired, he purchased the factory in 1937 to manufacture as David Joel Limited.

Like Betty he designed many beautiful pieces of furniture, often using the best materials available. He used many woods from the British Empire, including Canada, Australia, British Honduras, West Africa and in this case India. Indian Laurel is a close grained heavy wood, dark walnut in colour, and in the solid the waste factor makes it expensive.
