Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency work table is a compact occasional table designed in Great Britain during the early 19th century, primarily intended for female needlework, embroidery, and writing. These tables usually featured a shallow drawer and a hanging fabric pouch or wooden basket underneath to store textile supplies.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency period frequently crafted work tables from high-grade woods like rosewood, mahogany, and satinwood. Supporting elements often included silk or pleated fabric pouches, brass drawer pulls, and brass capped castors.

Authentic Regency work tables feature period-specific construction details such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass castors, classical proportioning, and lyre or trestle-form leg supports. The presence of a original or period-appropriate fabric basket mechanism beneath the main tabletop also indicates its original functional design.

Due to their slender proportions and mobility, these tables function effectively as side tables beside a armchair, sofa end tables, or decorative accents in hall entryways. They add historical depth and warm wood tones to contemporary living spaces without taking up significant floor space.

Rosewood should be kept away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying, cracking, or fading of the timber. Clean the surface using a soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year to maintain the luster and protect the finish.
