A beautifully proportioned ebonised inverted bell top bracket clock, with a strike/silent option within the break-arch Signed William Withers of London.
The very fine, five-pillar, 8-day movement strikes the hours on a single bell. The attractive seven-inch brass dial with silvered and engraved chapter ring, matted centre with a recessed silvered signature cartouche signed ''Willm Withers of London'', with a decorated date aperture above the VI.
The movement boasts the original verge escapement and strikes the hours with a pull repeat. The back plate is beautifully engraved with floral swags.
The classic style ebonised case for the period with an inverted bell top and four finals. Gilt brass frets backed with red silk to the front glazed door. Brass carrying handle with ebonised bracket feet.
