Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian marquetry furniture was produced between 1901 and 1910, borrowing design elements from eighteenth-century Neoclassicism. It is characterised by lighter construction compared to Victorian pieces, incorporating delicate wood inlays, ribbon motifs, urns, and floral scrolls crafted from contrasting timbers like satinwood and boxwood.

Edwardian craftsmen primarily utilised high-grade mahogany for structural framing and tops. Decorative detailing featured secondary woods such as satinwood, rosewood, boxwood, and ebony to create fine line stringing, crossbanding, and intricate floral or shell marquetry.

Authentic Edwardian tables display precise hand-cut or early machine joinery, hand-applied French polish, and slender turned or tapered legs. Examination of the underside often reveals secondary pine or oak drawer linings and genuine signs of age such as slight shrinkage in timber panels.

Place the table alongside contemporary upholstered seating to provide contrast between modern textiles and classic timber finishes. Position a minimal ceramic lamp or structured glassware on top to highlight the detailed wood inlay without cluttering the surface.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent veneer lifted from moisture loss. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year to nourish the wood and protect the original finish.
