French Art Deco Ceiling Light Signed Degué

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Pyrontique
Description

French Art Deco Four Light Ceiling Light signed Degué (David Gueron, 1892 - 1950)

A beautiful example of Art Deco design from the 1930s that is signed on the main bowl and all three shades.

Gueron was a glass artist and the owner / founder of the Verrerie d'Art Degué factory in Paris that produced many ceiling lights and vases in the 1930s.

A wide range of colours can be seen through the glass shades, including blue, white, pink and yellow.

The light has been re-wired to EU standards and tested and is in full working order. As with all lighting we would suggest having the light checked and fitted by an approved electrician.

The metal has been refinished.

The light will be partially dismantled for shipping and the shades will be packed separately. The piece takes one bayonet bulb and three screw-in bulbs (all included).

Height (ceiling rose to base of the three smaller shades): 86 cm

Diameter (between smaller shades): 64 cm maximum

Diameter (main bowl): 36 cm

Height (three smaller shades): 13 cm

Shipping will be £50 for delivery to an address in England, France, Germany and Italy.

We can provide quotes to the rest of the UK, Europe and worldwide

French Antiques and Objets d'art

We specialise in French antiques and work with interior designers, trade and retail in the UK and worldwide. Every piece is examined and restored when necessary to a very high standard by a professionally trained restorer with years of experience.

We have an online store and viewing in person is unfortunately not an option. If you wish to return an item please send us written notification within 48 hours of receipt. Returns can be made up to 14 days after delivery. The item must be returned in the same condition as it left and a full refund less any delivery and return delivery costs incurred by us will be issued.

Packing and Delivery

We ship larger pieces, such as tables and washstands, with specialised couriers and smaller pieces, such as sculptures and lights, with FedEx or the post.

We take great care to ensure that our pieces are well-packaged for transport. Deliveries take on average between 1 week and 3 weeks (possibly longer, depending on your location, times of year and any other factors).

We have stock in Kent and France and can provide quotes to deliver from both stores. Should a piece need importing from France, the price would be DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to include shipping, UK import VAT and customs clearance; there are no hidden costs. Please contact us by email or Whatsapp Link if you need a quote.

Payment

We accept payment by bank transfer, credit card, debit card or PayPal in either Sterling or Euros. If you purchase through Selling Antiques you can either request a delivery quote from us before payment or we will add this once we receive confirmation of your purchase.

General Information

As with all antiques, there may be small normal signs of wear and tear due to the age of a piece and its history. We aim to describe our pieces accurately – please ask for more description and photos if you would like more information. You can see our ranges, important information and terms and conditions on our website www.pyrontique.com.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Art Deco ceiling lights from the 1920s and 1930s combine geometric or stylized floral metalwork with handcrafted glass elements, reflecting the transition from Art Nouveau curves to modernized, streamlined forms.

These fixtures commonly feature wrought iron, bronzed metal, or nickel-plated frames paired with moulded, frosted, or pate-de-verre glass shades designed to diffuse electric light smoothly.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit maker signatures moulded or acid-etched into the glass, crisp hand-wrought ironwork with hand-hammered details, and characteristic period wiring hardware or mounting points.

Suspension over a dining area or within a hallway provides a focal point, bridging modern minimalist architecture with period decorative craft through contrasting textures and soft ambient lighting.

Remove dust using a soft, lint-free cloth or dry soft brush, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that could strip patinated finishes on ironwork or damage delicate surface etchings on glass shades.
