This is an elegant Georgian, double series opaque twist cordial glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has an small bucket-shaped bowl measuring 4.5 cm (1.8 inches) in diameter. The bowl is plain save for moulded finger fluting to the lower third and sits on a long double series opaque twist stem consisting of two white enamel cords wound around a central gauze. The stem ends in a wide conical foot which measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter. The glass is 18 cm (7.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are two collectors'' stickers to the underside of the foot, one of which is for the Towse Collection.
Lead glass weighing in at 180 g. (~ 6 1/2 oz.).
