Rowland Henry Hill "Ellerby" Yorkshire Watercolour

Rowland Henry Hill was born in Halifax in 1873. He studied at the Halifax and Bradford Schools of Art and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1897, at the Paris Salon, Venetian International and in many provincial exhibitions. He travelled widely and lived at Hinderwell near Staithes, where as a member of the Staithes Group of Painters he painted many local scenes. Examples of his work are in the Imperial War Museum, Leeds, Wakefield, Whitby, Harrogate and several other Public and private collections.
This watercolour shows a view at Ellerby in Yorkshire. The watercolour measures 9''x 12'' and is signed lower left and dated 1928. It is framed giving an overall size of 17''x 19''. It is inscribed on the back of the frame ''Ellerby, Yorkshire, a view near Runswick Bay''.
