Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV style, spanning roughly 1830 to 1837, bridges the Regency and Victorian eras. It is characterised by robust proportions, architectural turned columns, scroll feet, and prominent use of dark mahogany.

These stools were typically crafted from solid mahogany or rosewood, featuring hand-turned pedestals and internal iron or wooden screw mechanisms. Upholstery was traditionally anchored over horsehair padding with decorative gimp trimming.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut threads on the internal metal or wooden screw mechanism, period joinery on the tripod legs, and natural patina along the turned timber base. Hand-carved scroll detailing and weighted bases are also key indicators of period construction.

Beyond its original musical purpose, an adjustable revolving stool functions effectively as flexible accent seating in a study, a dressing table seat, or a compact side element beside a sofa.

Apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain of the mahogany to nourish the timber and protect the original finish. Ensure the threaded height-adjustment mechanism is kept free of dust and lightly lubricated if needed to prevent friction.
