Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late Qing dynasty, carved hardwood plant stands were popular decorative features in Chinese homes and traditional courtyards. Crafted to showcase potted plants, floral arrangements, or scholars stones, these stands integrated sculptural woodwork with functional interior display.

Traditional Chinese plant stands were primarily constructed using dense Asian hardwoods such as rosewood, zitan, or hongmu, combined with polished marble or granite top inserts. Joinery was executed using traditional mortise-and-tenon construction without metal fasteners.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved decorative motifs such as prunus blossoms or dragons, hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joints, and natural age-related patination on the timber. Inset stone surfaces typically exhibit natural variegated veining rather than uniform artificial patterns.

Place the stand as an accent piece in an entryway, alcove, or corner to create vertical height. It can be topped with a contemporary ceramic pot, a table lamp, or an art object to contrast traditional craft with modern architectural lines.

Dust intricate carvings regularly using a soft, dry bristle brush to reach recessed areas. Maintain the timber finish with a light application of clear beeswax, and clean the marble insert using a soft damp cloth while avoiding acidic or abrasive cleaners.
