William IV Rosewood Double Fusee Bracket Clock

A fine quality William IV period brass inlaid rosewood double fusee bracket clock by William Coxhead of Reading, fully restored and working c.1835. The rosewood veneered case with Arabian style pagoda pediment to the top, cast brass ball finial set above; ribbed moulding set below. The front of the case with recessed brass mounted panel set below the dial, ribbed pilasters sat on scroll design mounts to either side of the case. The case front extensively inlaid with brass decorative stringing. Sat on a plinth foot with small brass ball feet set below. The sides with Gothic design brass sound frets, silk panels set behind, brass lion mask handles above. Convex dial with superb original unrestored finish and inked Roman numerals, bears the makes name 'William Coxhead, Market Place, Reading', original blued ringed design hands with strike silent facility set to the top. Sat behind a matching original convex glass window set in a cast brass hinged opening bezel. Glazed rear door with working lock and key. The fully overhauled 8 day double fusee movement with shaped shoulders to the plates, bell striking on the hour and anchor escapement. William Coxhead is recorded working in Market Place, Reading between 1830 and 1877, this example presented in superb original condition with a rich patina, fully overhauled and working.
