N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this Double Fusee Mantel Clock to the 19th Century.
This beautiful double fusee mantel clock has an oak case with a lovely rich colour and grain. The top of the clock is then shaped with gilt ormolu finials to the corners and the centre. The body of the case is then square with inlet corners to the front with maiden head mounts. There are then silk backed fretwork panels to the sides. The base of the case is then shaped with further ormolu mouldings. Finally the case is finished by four lions paw feet.
The dial is then brass with a silvered chapter ring. The chapter ring is then set out in Roman numerals with the minutes being marked in Arabic numerals. The centre of the dial is then beautifully engraved with the corners having cherub spandrils. The movement also features a silvered date aperture.
The movement is then a double fusee example of the upmost quality. It is ticking away as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum, travel nut and winding key. The clock also strikes the number of hours on the hour as well as once on the half past via a gong. The movement also features a working date wheel!
Both the front and back doors also have there working locks and keys.
It measures approximately:
16.75” / 42.5cm Tall.
11.25” / 28.5cm Wide.
8.25” / 21cm Deep.
