Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Decanters were originally created to serve wine directly from barrels and allow sediment to settle before pouring. By the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, lead crystal decanters with cut geometric patterns became central elements of formal dining and sideboard presentation for port, sherry, and spirits.

Traditional cut crystal was hand-blown from high-lead content glass, which gave the material density, clarity, and resonance. Artisans used abrasive wheels to cut deep geometric facets, diamond patterns, and neck rings into the surface before polishing the glass.

Authentic pieces generally show sharp, precise wheel-cut edges rather than molded seams, alongside minor hand-finishing variations. Original stoppers often bear ground glass joints tailored specifically to fit the neck of that individual decanter.

A pair of crystal decanters can be styled on a wooden sideboard, brass drinks trolley, or tray within a dining room or study. Their reflective facets catch ambient light, adding visual depth to dark wood surfaces or minimalist stone countertops.

Decanters should be washed by hand using warm water, mild liquid detergent, and a soft cloth to avoid scratching. For interior moisture or residue, specialized cleaning beads or diluted white vinegar may be used, followed by complete air drying before replacing the stoppers.
