M Lees and Sons has dated this Mahogany Sarcophagus Wine Cooler to the 19th Century.
Impressively-scaled ‘flame’ figured mahogany wine-cooler with broad canted tapering corners , applied carved mouldings to the top and bottom edges , raised on a plinth base with original recessed brass castors on the underside.

The interior with a polished surface , perhaps originally with a zinc or lead liner to hold chilled wine and champagne . A replacement liner could be re-fitted if desired to client’s specification.
In excellent condition with a rich colour and patina. Of free-standing form, could be used perhaps both as a wine cellarette or as a jardiniere.
