Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Constructed between 1820 and 1830, George IV wardrobes represent a transitional phase between Regency elegance and early Victorian substance. They feature restrained classical proportions, architectural cornices, flame mahogany veneers, and high-quality cabinetmaking techniques.

These pieces were built using solid mahogany and mahogany veneers over secondary timbers such as pine or oak. Decorative accents often include cast brass beaded strips, brass locks, and polished wood escutcheons.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original oak or pine drawer linings and backboards, hand-planed surfaces, and period-correct hardware such as brass locks or astragal door mouldings.

A large mahogany wardrobe serves as an anchoring focal piece in a bedroom suite. Position it against a neutral or rich wall colour alongside contemporary textiles to contrast the dark timber grain and structured silhouette.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality bees wax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood movement or fading.
