Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco desks from the 1930s typically feature bold geometric shapes, streamlined contours, and rich wood veneers such as figured walnut or mahogany. They often incorporate integrated storage solutions, asymmetric pedestal configurations, and decorative metal handles.

Craftsmen commonly used solid hardwood frames finished with high-figured veneers, such as walnut burr or maple. Writing surfaces frequently featured inset gilded leather, accompanied by nickel, chrome, or bakelite drawer handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate construction techniques like hand-cut dovetail joints, original lock mechanisms, and natural ageing on the veneer. The presence of genuine period handles and original leather inset tops also helps verify authenticity.

Pair the desk with a clean-lined contemporary swivel chair to contrast the structured geometric frame. Position it in a home office or study with warm, neutral walls and subtle metallic accents to complement the rich walnut grain.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year to maintain moisture. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking or colour fading.
