Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, also known as a tallboy, is a piece of furniture comprising two stacked chests of drawers designed to maximise vertical storage while conserving floor space. Popular during the George II period, these pieces featured figured walnut veneers, balanced proportions, and decorative brass hardware.

George II tallboys feature a softwood or oak carcass veneered in figured or burr walnut, often detailed with herringbone or feather stringing and crossbanded borders. Construction typically includes hand-cut dovetail joints, oak-lined drawers, moulded cornices, and bracket feet, fitted with cast brass drop handles and escutcheon plates.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber drawer linings, uneven hand-cut dovetails, and natural surface patination across the wood grain. Inspect for historic brassware fitment marks, period-appropriate oak drawer construction, and hand-carved bracket feet with consistent aging.

Position the tallboy as a focal anchor piece in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway to provide functional vertical storage. Balance its rich timber tone and tall silhouette against neutral wall palettes, contemporary artwork, or understated modern textiles.

Maintain walnut surfaces by dusting with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources, radiators, and prolonged exposure to strong sunlight to prevent veneer movement and colour fading.
