This is an antique sewing table. An English, flame mahogany ladies work table, dating to the late Regency period, circa 1830.

Dashing example, with superb colour and form

Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order

Select stocks present fine grain interest throughout

Rich caramel hues dance beneath a wax polish finish

Beautifully figured top lifts to reveal a fitted interior

Suite of compartments finished in quality waxed paper

Three smaller lidded compartments sit to the outer edge of the central lid

Lid removes to aid access to the deep, tapering under box, ideal for fabric storage

Edges accentuated with carved lobe motif, front fascia with inset lock — key absent

Turned supports in pairs raise the table above the base

Standing upon a pair of shaped bracket feet

United with two baluster turned stretcher rails
