Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Louis XIII style centre tables, popularised in the 17th century and revived throughout the 19th century, are defined by heavy turnings such as spiral barley twists, sturdy H-stretchers or X-stretchers, and solid timber construction, typically in walnut or oak.

French cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid walnut, oak, and fruitwoods. Construction features hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, hand-turned legs, and carved aprons or rims tailored to support free-standing placement in the centre of a room.

Authenticity can be verified by examining the underside for hand-planed wood surfaces, original pegged joinery rather than modern screws, natural unevenness in the hand-turned legs, and age-consistent wear on the lower stretchers and feet.

In modern interior schemes, a centre table works effectively as a focal point in an entrance foyer or as an occasional table in a large drawing room, layered with ceramics, books, or floral displays to contrast structured modern decor.

Maintain antique walnut by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent drying and timber shrinkage.
