Regency Cut-glass Comports and Salts with Provenance

19th century
Description

A pair of Regency comports or bowls together with a set of four salts. The bowls (Circa 1820) are very substantial, thick and heavy with stylised foliate and geometric patterns on lozenge shaped feet. They measure 21cm wide X 12cm depth X 16cm tall. The salts which we believe are slightly later (circa1880) measure 8cm wide X 5cm depth X 7cm tall. All the pieces are in exceptional condition for their age with no chips or cracks and with a very interesting provenance.

PROVENANCE: These pieces were originally sold at Christies, London on 26-27 January 2006, Lot 444. They were included with items from the estate of His Royal Highness, The Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester, KG, KT, KP. (1900-1974) He was the son of George V and Queen Mary. The hammer price at the time was £800.

We can deliver free of charge in UK mainland and can calculate the cost for international delivery. Payment by bank transfer, PayPal or card via telephone.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
