We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, hall stands served as functional entryway furniture designed to store coats, hats, walking sticks, and umbrellas, while providing a central mirror for grooming before departing the house.

Edwardian hall stands were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, featuring brass coat hooks, inset silvered glass mirrors, and cast metal or ceramic drip pans at the base.

Authentic period hall stands typically feature hand-cut dovetail construction on central glove boxes, original metal drip pans in the base wells, period-correct brass hardware, and natural oxidation along the back panels and joints.

Position the hall stand in an entryway or hallway as a functional focal point, pairing dark timber tones with light wall paint, modern light fixtures, and minimal umbrella accessories to balance historical and contemporary aesthetics.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, ensuring metal drip trays are kept dry and free from standing water to prevent timber moisture damage.
