How should I hang sketch artwork?

Paper works are sensitive to strong sunlight and require placement away from direct beams to prevent fading of inks and watercolours. Utilising UV-filtering glass during framing provides essential protection for delicate graphite and pastel surfaces over time.

Are these works original?

The inventory includes both unique hand-drawn studies and period printed editions created by artists and printmakers. Individual listings specify whether a piece is an original drawing on paper or a published print. Examining the surface under magnification helps distinguish between applied ink lines and printed dot patterns.

What periods do these pieces span?

The collection covers works originating from the eighteenth century through to the mid-twentieth century. Academic studies and portraits represent earlier Georgian and Victorian traditions. Later pieces reflect Modern British and Mid-Century Modern movements with bolder, simplified forms.

How do I care for paper art?

Maintaining stable indoor humidity levels prevents the paper support from cockling or developing foxing spots. Professional framing with acid-free mounts ensures the artwork does not touch the glass directly. Keeping pieces in rooms with minimal temperature fluctuations preserves the integrity of both paper and medium.
