How do I clean a vintage rustic table?

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that strip the aged patina of the wood. Dry the timber thoroughly afterwards and occasionally apply a natural beeswax to nourish older oak and pine surfaces.

Can I use a kitchen prep table for daily dining?

Many vintage worktables and laundry tables function exceptionally well as everyday dining or kitchen tables due to their generous proportions and sturdy build. Ensure you check the height clearance for chairs, as some older worktables were built lower or higher than standard dining seats.

What is the difference between oak and pine rustic tables?

Oak tables provide a denser, heavier surface with a distinct grain pattern, typically associated with formal farmhouse and refectory dining furniture. Pine and poplar tables tend to be lighter in colour and weight, often carrying a softer, more casual country aesthetic with visible knots and dents.

How do I identify a nineteenth-century table?
