What is a rose gold fob?

A rose gold fob is a small decorative pendant historically suspended from a pocket watch chain. These pieces often incorporate hardstones like bloodstone or feature engraved shields. They served as personal seals for stamping wax correspondence or simply as ornamental drops on a gentleman's albert chain.

How do I wear a watch fob today?

Collectors today wear these pieces suspended from modern neck chains as pendants or attach them to short lengths of chain. They also function well mounted on traditional albert chains. The sturdy construction of Victorian and Edwardian examples makes them suitable for regular wear when secured properly.

How do I tell Victorian from Edwardian fobs?

Victorian examples often display heavier, more substantial proportions with deep engraving and dark bloodstone or carnelian panels. They tend to reflect the heavier ornamentation of the 19th Century. Edwardian pieces frequently adopt lighter, airier dimensions with geometric motifs and cleaner lines, alongside crisp Birmingham assay marks from the early 1900s.
